Crossworks Pay-It-Forward Program

Crossworks Pay-It-Forward
The Crossworks Pay-It-Forward (PIF) Program was created with a simple belief: real impact happens through consistency, not one-time help. What began as a small effort to support underprivileged children has grown into a long-term learning space where education, character, and care come together. Today, the program provides basic English education and values-based guidance to children in a safe and supportive environment which is led by volunteers committed to showing up every week.

From Emergency Support to Long-Term Thinking
The roots of the PIF Program trace back to Helping Hearts, founded in April 2025 after a powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar near Mandalay. What began as an emergency relief effort to support families in crisis soon revealed deeper challenges. During this time, volunteers encountered children living in extremely difficult conditions, facing poverty, disrupted education, and little encouragement to imagine a future beyond daily survival.

Why Language and Values Matter Together
The program focuses mainly on English listening and speaking skills, alongside character development. Many of these children grow up without consistent role models or guidance. Lessons therefore include respect, responsibility, teamwork, and kindness.
These children are often described as “disadvantaged.” But in reality, they are full of potential - diamonds shaped by difficult environments. We believe that with the right support, leadership and confidence can come from anywhere.

Who We Support
Around 35-40 children attend every Saturday, ranging from ages 5 to 15. They are grouped by age and learning level, creating a supportive and age-appropriate environment. Most come from families facing financial hardship and limited access to quality education. Parents often have little formal schooling themselves, exposure to English and personal development is minimal.
What Happens Every Saturday
Every Saturday begins with the volunteers coming together early, sharing breakfast, aligning on the teaching plan, and preparing the day’s lessons. This time allows the team to connect, discuss how each child is progressing, and ensure everyone is ready to create a supportive learning environment. Classes then focus on practical English through repetition, visuals, games, songs, and group activities. Learning is interactive and encouraging, designed to build confidence rather than fear of making mistakes. Each session also includes fellowship time, moments where volunteers sit with the children, listen to their stories, observe their behavior, and build trust.

Why This Matters
When children are given education, guidance, and consistent care, the impact reaches far beyond the classroom. It shapes future employees, future parents, future citizens.
Paying it forward is not only an act of kindness, it is an investment in human potential. And when individuals and organizations quietly support that journey, entire communities begin to change. Sometimes, the most meaningful responsibility is simply choosing to care - and continuing to show up.
Thank You
